Role Overview

As Senior Manager – Category (Insurance), you will take full ownership of building, managing, and scaling the insurance category at PhonePe. You will be responsible for crafting and executing strategies that enhance the customer experience, increase revenue, and deepen PhonePe’s presence in the digital insurance space. This is a strategic role requiring close collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners, including major insurers.


Key Responsibilities

🧠 Market & Strategic Insights

  • Build a deep understanding of the insurance market, regulatory landscape, competitive environment, and consumer behavior.
  • Define and execute the category strategy, aligned with long-term business objectives.

📈 Performance & Growth Management

  • Monitor key commercial and category metrics to ensure sustainable growth.
  • Identify revenue opportunities and take data-driven decisions to improve performance.

🤝 Partnership Management

  • Establish and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with insurance partners—executives, product managers, and BD teams.
  • Collaborate on co-creating product features, processes, and GTM plans to maximize mutual success.

🛠 Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with product, legal, compliance, operations, data science, growth, and customer experience teams.
  • Lead category-specific initiatives that drive customer satisfaction and loyalty.

📊 KPIs & Optimization

  • Define clear KPIs to track partnership and category performance.
  • Continuously analyze and refine strategies based on outcomes and market dynamics.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • 6+ years of experience in fintech, insurtech, or financial services.
  • Proven track record of driving growth and innovation in B2C or digital product-led environments.
  • MBA from a Tier 1 institution (IIMs, ISB, XLRI, etc.)
