We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic individuals to work in a high-volume kitchen environment and create an exceptional culinary experience for the guests through cooking and food presentation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, storing food for all menu items by strictly following recipes; yield guide and quality, in a timely and efficient manner
- Supervise and organize supplies; ensure all items are prepped in a timely fashion
- Operate kitchen equipment such as baking ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers and maintain cleanliness and hygiene at assigned work area
- Replenish service lines as and when needed; restock and prepare the workstation for the next shift while minimizing waste and maintaining controls to stay within agreed food costs
REQUIREMENTS
- Possess a Diploma in Cookery from a recognized hotel school
- Minimum experience of 3 to 5 years as a commis level chef; experience in à la carte / banquet meal preparation at reputed hotels/restaurants in a similar capacity is considered a distinct advantage
- Excellent understanding of varied cooking methods, techniques, equipment and procedures
- Great personal hygiene and grooming standards with good verbal and written communication skills in English and Sinhala coupled with computer literacy in MS Office software packages
