Job Title: Teacher Vacancies – Negombo Location: Negombo, Sri Lanka Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time Reporting To: Academic Coordinator / Principal Overview We are seeking qualified, dependable, and committed teachers to join our academic team in Negombo. Subject Areas (Current Vacancies) We are currently inviting applications for teaching positions in the following subjects: Primary Education (Grades 1–5) English Language & Literature Mathematics (Local and London Curriculum) Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) ICT / Computer Science Commerce & Accounting History / Geography / Civic Education Tamil and Sinhala (Language and Literature) Aesthetic Subjects (Art, Music, Dance) Physical Education Key Responsibilities 1. Classroom Instruction Prepare and deliver clear, structured lessons in line with the prescribed syllabus. Ensure lessons have specific learning objectives and are paced to match student understanding. Manage classroom behavior firmly but respectfully, creating an atmosphere conducive to learning. Use written and verbal feedback to help students identify areas for improvement. 2. Lesson Planning and Curriculum Alignment Follow the school’s academic calendar and lesson pacing guides. Submit lesson plans for review where required and attend planning meetings as scheduled. Adapt lessons when necessary to support mixed-ability learning or to accommodate individual student needs. 3. Assessment and Reporting Design or administer regular tests, assignments, and exams in accordance with school assessment policy. Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance. Prepare term-end reports and discuss student progress with parents at scheduled meetings. 4. Student Support and Guidance Offer additional academic help to students who fall behind or need extra support. Monitor student well-being in the classroom and report any concerns to the relevant counselor or administrator. Encourage students to take responsibility for their learning while providing appropriate guidance. 5. Professional Conduct Adhere strictly to the school’s policies on punctuality, classroom conduct, and reporting. Dress and act in a manner appropriate for a teaching environment. Maintain a professional boundary between teacher and student at all times. 6. Institutional Participation Attend staff meetings, workshops, and training sessions. Participate in school events, open days, and extracurricular activities when applicable. Collaborate with colleagues on projects, field trips, or cross-curricular events. Qualifications and Experience Essential Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area. For primary teachers, a degree in Education or Child Development is preferred. Fluency in English. Sinhala or Tamil proficiency is required depending on the subject area. Minimum of one year of classroom teaching experience. Fresh graduates with teaching internships will be considered for junior positions. Preferred: Postgraduate qualifications (PGDE, Master’s in Education, etc.) Experience teaching the London O-Level/IGCSE or A-Level curriculum. Familiarity with student-centered teaching approaches and differentiated instruction. Basic computer literacy (email, MS Word, PowerPoint) and the ability to use a digital classroom platform. Preparedness: Arriving on time with a well-structured lesson plan and supporting materials. Professional Judgment: Knowing when to escalate an issue, when to adapt a lesson, and when to step back. Working Conditions Location: All positions are based at our Negombo campus. Working Hours: Monday to Friday, with Saturday sessions required during exam periods or for extra classes. Class Size: Typical class size ranges from 20 to 30 students. Facilities: Classrooms are equipped with basic teaching aids; multimedia projectors are available in designated rooms.
